Member & Deacon, Fifth Ave.Baptist Church,Rome; member Shorter University Board of trustees 1963-1968, returning in 2007 for 8 year term; Past Director Floyd County Baptist Associational Brotherhood; founder Carpenters for Christ in 1981; current member Floyd County Baptist Executive Committee; member Southern Baptist Sunday School Board of Trustees 1978-1986; only living Life Member of Salvation Army Advisory Board having served since 1964, also Board Chairman twice and Capital Campaign Chairman twice.

Past President Georgia Funeral Directors Association; past Chairman Constitution & By-Laws Committee National Funeral Directors Association; current member Independent Funeral Directors of Georgia and Georgia Funeral Directors Association.

Hosted two hour Sunday morning program of Gospel Music on WRGA, Rome from 1958-2002; hosted one hour weekly TV program of Gospel Music on Comcast Rome, Calhoun, Cartersville, Canton & Cumming and CTN Kodak,TN.from 1996-2008; currently host 3 annual Gospel Music Concerts at Rome City Auditorium; member Southern Gospel Music Association; Southern Gospel Promoters Association. Recipient of 2010 Hugh Burnes Christian Service Leadership Award; member Sgt.Billy Freeman Post 55 Korean Veterans Association and Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion; member Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce.

Wife 53 years, Margaret Eads Jennings, who is his partner in business; son, James Parnick Jennings,Jr.(Tina), Cartersville; daughter, Jan Jennings Musick(Clyde),Rome; grandchildren, Tara(Brian) Inman, Darlington School Teachers; Clay Allen Kirkland, Plant Manager, Armstrong Hardwood Flooring, .(Becky)Kirkland, Somerset , Ky. ; Parnick Spencer Musick, in training with his grandfather at Good Shepherd; Jacob Musick, Georgia Highlands College six great-grandchildren, Maggie, identical twins, Wesley and Davis and Harrison Inman and Della Ruth Kirkland and Seth Allen Kirkland.

In college I had determined that I would pursue a career in either sports writing or broadcasting. However during the Korean War, I had a spiritual conversion at which time The Lord plainly told me to follow in my father’s footsteps as a mortician. I have never regretted that decision for it has given me the opportunity to render a ministry of comfort and hope to over 18,000 families. To God be the Glory.

Margaret E. Jennings Co-Owner/Secretary/Treasurer

Margaret has been involved in funeral service at her husband’s side for 45 years. Like her husband, she is a people person, helping the bereaved with Social Security Benefits, Veterans Administration documents, and filing insurance claims. Along with these truly important tasks, Margaret has a compassionate listening ear, and provides comfort for families even months after the funeral. Not only has Margaret worked closely in the day-to-day operations of both the original firm, and now Good Shepherd Funeral Home, she raised two children, Parnick Jennings, Jr., and Jan Jennings (Musick). She and Parnick thoroughly enjoy the company of their four 4 grandchildren, and their 5 great-grandchildren. Margaret is a member of 5th. Avenue Baptist Church. The Jennings family is truly blessed

Bobby Don Rogers General Manager

With 34 years experience in funeral service, Bobby Don is an exceptional asset to our firm, and to the community. He began his career in funeral service back in 1974, with Parnick Jennings. The sixteen years he was part of the Jennings Funeral Home were followed by 18 years with Perry Funeral Home. We were delighted when he returned to the Jennings family in September of 2008. Bobby Don received his mortuary science degree from Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science in 1990. He’s married to Charlayne Hobbs Rogers, and together they have raised 3 children.

Wayne Allison Manager

Wayne came to us in March 2008. While rather new to his position as funeral assistant, he is a remarkable asset to us, and to the families we serve. He is very compassionate, respectful and caring. Willing to serve when called upon, he feels his duties as funeral assistant is a ministry to the people he serves and is thankful to be a part of the staff at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Wayne is a native of Blacksburg, South Carolina, now calls Rome his home - in fact, he’s Parnick Jennings next-door neighbor. Retired from Burlington Industries, Galey and Lord, Shannon, Georgia in 2001 as weaving department manager. He was employed by Burlington for 35 years. Prior to moving to Rome, Georgia in 1986, he was preventive maintenance manager at plants in Waco and Sherman Texas, Calhoun Falls, South Carolina, Durham and Asheville North Carolina and also worked as a consultant in textile plants in the U. S. and Mexico during the 1970’s and early 1980’s. He attended numerous management seminars throughout his career. Wayne is an ordained deacon and has always been very active in church work. He has had many positions at the different churches he has been affiliated with. He is presently a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church Rome, Georgia. Happily married to the former Marilyn Gammon, they enjoy antiquing and auto racing. Together he and Marilyn have four daughters, one son, eight grandsons, one great grandson and two granddaughters.

Evelyn Montgomery Receptionist/ Secretary

Evelyn came to us in 2008, and is an important part of the firm. Serving as receptionist and secretary, Evelyn is often the first person to speak with client families when they call or drop by. She is a graduate of the Johnson High School, class of 1958, and also a graduate of the Coosa Valley Technical College. Evelyn fits right in; she’s another great “people person,” and enjoys sitting down with people to speak at the heart-level, and ease the burden of someone’s loss. She’s married to William Montgomery. Together they have 2 children, 1 grandchild, and 2 step-grandchildren. They live in Cave Springs, on a beautiful farm. Evelyn loves to collect antiques, cook, garden, and being around people.

Howard Mathis Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer

Howard was 9 years old when his father died, and the care and compassion, along with the dignified professionalism of the funeral director who served his family, convinced Howard that his calling lay in serving the bereaved. Howard began his career with Parnick in 1985 and later worked with Daniel’s Funeral Home in Rome for 25 years before returning to Good Shepherd in August of 2011. 
“ I feel that I have worked with outstanding funeral directors and served in quality funeral homes in my career. Each experience has contributed to my philosophy of serving each family with the same compassion, empathy, and diligence regardless of circumstances.” Funeral service has changed tremendously in the span of my career, and I am committed to educating myself to where I can meet the needs of every family.

Howard is married to the former Jane Holsonback and they have one daughter. They are members of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church. We reside in the Armuchee Community and in his spare time enjoys music and history. Howard is a member of the Myrtle Hill –Oak Hill Cemetery Committee and participates in the annual Myrtle Hill Cemetery Tour each October, where he portrays residents of Myrtle Hill.

Joined Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home in December 2016, I am from Roswell Ga. I was Licensed and Ordination by Atlanta Street Baptist Church in Roswell Georgia. I have pastored several churches in North Georgia. Married to the former Catherine Lee of Roswell. We have two daughters and five grandchildren. I have served as Chaplin for several years. Catherine and I moved to Rome about a year and a half ago to be close to our daughter after I semi retired. 


I am thankful to be able to serve our community with Mr.Jennings and his staff at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

Cameron O'Neal Licensed Apprentice Funeral Director/Embalmer

Cameron is a native Roman, A 2014 Graduate of Model High School Where his Junior Senior Years He was QB. His Parents are Julie Johnston O'Neal and Tony O'Neal. His Grandfather is Wayne Allison, Manager of Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Cameron Attended Shorter Univ. and received his Associate's Degree from Young Harris. Cameron joined Good Shepherd Funeral Home Staff July 2014, is an Apprentice Funeral Director and Embalmer. He will Attend Jefferson State College, Mortuary Science Dept in January 2017.

Herman Stamey Licensed Apprentice Funeral Director/Embalmer

Herman is a native of Lindale, youngest of 8 children of the Late Rev. Bobby R. Stamey and Pearline Stamey Cowart. In 2000 He became a Registered Apprentice Funeral Director & Embalmer with Henderson & Sons, Leaving August 31, 2016 to join Good Shepherd Funeral Home on November 11, 2016 is an Apprentice Funeral Director and Embalmer, entering Jefferson State College, Mortuary Science Dept., January 2018. His wife Miranda, 3 year- old Daughter Sarah and 7 week old son, Micah are the joy of his life. He is also Associate Pastor of Silver Creek Baptist Church.

Jennifer Strickland Office/Funeral Assistant

Jennifer is a graduate of Model High School, Rome Georgia. She also attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Berry College, Rome Georgia with a B.S.in Early Childhood Education. She previously worked in Bartow County School System as a Teacher before staying home to raise her three sons Andrew (19), Ethan (14), and Eli (7).
She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Rome Georgia and sustainer of the Junior Service League of Rome. She is also active in her boys school and activities . Jennifer joined Good Shepherd Funeral Home Staff in September 2016.

George Danny Couzzourt Funeral Assistant

Danny was born in Cedartown Georgia, Graduated Cedartown High School. Worked at Pet Bakery for over 23 years and North West Georgia distributor 51/2 years before Retiring.


Danny enjoys camping and taken trips with his family. He has 8 Children, 12 grand children and 9 great grand children. Danny joined Good Shepherd Funeral Home August 2016.
